Wednesday 18 January 2017 at 6pm
QUAD Gallery FREE
Special screenings of Israeli filmmaker Karen Russo’s recent works Haus Atlantis and TET-Stadt. By looking at the work of German Expressionist artist and architect Bernhard Hoetger, in which Nordic mythology and futuristic architecture fuse, Russo presents a meditation on irrationality and nationalism through the legacy of Expressionism.
Panel Discussion: Myth and Politics in a Post-truth World
With consideration to recent political events, following the screenings there will be a discussion by a panel featuring Russo, and Midlands based film makers and academics, taking her film works as a starting point and leading to a wider exploration of current political upheaval and how history can be manipulated.
